Taverners celebrate GB Paralympic medal haul
Following a fantastic final total of 120 Paralympic medals at the London 2012 games, The Lord’s Taverners and The Lady Taverners have extended special congratulations to our Paralympic ambassadors.
Five of our disability sports ambassadors won Paralympic medals at London 2012.
Wheelchair sprinter Mickey Bushell won gold in the T53 100m, swimmer Ellie Simmonds claimed gold in the S6 400m freestyle and SM6 200m individual medley, silver in the S6 100m freestyle and bronze in the S6 50m freestyle, Jordanne Whiley won bronze in the women’s wheelchair tennis doubles, Will Bayley won silver in class 7 table tennis and won bronze with Ross Wilson in the men's class 6-8 team event.
Amy Conroy, Judith Hamer, Maddie Thompson and Laurie Williams reached the women’s wheelchair basketball quarter-finals, while Louise Hunt reached the last 32 in the women’s wheelchair tennis singles.
Well done to our Paralympic ambassadors and everyone involved with Team GB who have made the 2012 sporting summer such a success. You have all helped to inspire a generation.
