Norfolk Lady Taverners start the festive season in style
The Norfolk Lady Taverners got the festive season off to a bang at their Christmas Lunch at Briarfields in Hunstanton earlier this month – helping to raise more than £2,000.
The morning started with plenty of catch ups over coffee and pre-lunch drinks and festive shopping. Stallholders from an array of local businesses attended, including representatives from The Style Show clothing/fashion, Urban Armour jewellery, Christopher Williams country clothing and Home gifts & accessories.
Special thanks to all the stallholders and in particular, Alison Brecknell who kindly donated her time making over 100 cupcakes, raising over £120 for the charity. Thanks to Gloria Hurn too, who again this year offered to co-ordinate the ‘Lucky Dip’ table. With two gifts for £10, this stall proved hugely popular, raising £120.
Following the delightful two course luncheon, guest speaker Charles Bourn, owner of Urban Amour jewellery store gave us a lovely insight into his family’s jewellery business which originated in Burlington Arcade, London and over time moved into contemporary jewellery, coming to Burnham Market over 20 years ago.
With speeches from committee members Jackie Hopkinson, Penny Dowen and Kathy Chalk, the 83 guests were updated on the work of the Lady Taverners in the Norfolk region. In particular, the Church Hill Park day trip with autistic children to Pensthorpe Nature Park and the forthcoming minibus presentation to Hall School, Norwich.
The Lady Taverners like to take a school party out once a year, and in the last two years have been helped by a local preparatory school, Glebe House at Hunstanton. Their leavers aged 12 have given wonderful support to the children. Lastly, thank you all for your continued support. It really does help make a difference to those in our community!
Committee member Caroline Richardson is now Captain of Hunstanton Golf Club, so she will be very busy over the next year. We wish her the best of luck.
