Emmanuel's Story

Emmanuel (14) lives in a deprived area of Glasgow where social cohesion is a big issue. He’s attended Wicketz sessions in Springburn since April 2018, alongside children from a vast range of cultural backgrounds.

Initially, Emmanuel didn’t take Wicketz seriously - just like school. However, it wasn’t long before there was a marked change in his attitude, not only in Wicketz sessions but at home and school too.

He’s now excelling academically and an integral part of the Wicketz community, where he is now also a mentor.

Emmanuel has made a remarkable turnaround. His physical and mental health have improved and he’s determined to pursue meaningful goals, illustrated by his ambition to sign up as a volunteer for the police.
