Wicketz takes cricket to St May's Fire Station

Since COVID restrictions were eased, Wicketz has been using cricket as a tool to reconnect the young people who attend the programme with their local communities across the country.

In Southampton, Wicketz Development Officer Sam Moss was able to take the game to a unique location at the heart of the community. 26 young people from multiple hubs across the city were able to enjoy a competitive cricket tournament inside St Mary's Fire Station and take part in specialised workshops on fire safety along with a Q&A session with Southern Brave fast-bowler Lauren Bell.

Take a look at the video below for an example of how Wicketz is providing opportunities for young people living in areas of deprivation to not only play regular sport, but also to connect with their local community.
