Over 200 guests attended a very special evening at Windsor Castle on 25 June where The Lord's Taverners paid tribute to The Lady Taverners on their 25th anniversary.
In the presence of our Patron and Twelfth Man, His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, K.G.,K.T, guests enjoyed Champagne and canapés in the stunning Waterloo Chamber followed by dinner in the beautifully restored St. George's Hall.
Hosted by The Lord's Taverners President Chris Cowdrey, the evening began with an amusing Grace from past President Sir Richard Stilgoe. After a superb dinner entertainment was provided by jazz singer Clare Teal followed by the gifted Rick Wakeman playing classical versions of nursery rhymes and the original version of ‘Morning Has Broken'. Sir Tim Rice had introduced Clare and Rick and finished by performing his unique rendition of 'Teddy Bear'.
Before the evening's end, HRH Duke of Edinburgh told guests about the renovation of St George's Hall which was one of the rooms burnt down in the fire of 1992 and proposed a toast to The Lady Taverners 25th anniversary to end a very successful evening.
