Lara shines as Thriplow triumph
Lara Neild produced two excellent performances as she led Thriplow to the Cambridgeshire & Huntingdonshire Women’s League title.
The team (above) faced a double header against Hampton, who are unbeaten in four years, and NCI, and captain Neild held her nerve to secure a tie against Hampton.
She took three wickets, bowled two dot balls and claimed a run out in the last over as both teams ended with 52 runs on the board. Lucy Duncan (33 not out) worked hard with the bat for Thriplow.
And Neild then led the way with an unbeaten 30 alongside Freya Watrasiewicz (26) as Thriplow, who had seen NCI post 87 for 4, successfully reached 88 for 3 with three overs to spare.
It was Thriplow’s first season competing in the adult league and they have ended up topping the pile with a side comprisingly mainly players aged 14 and under.
