Saracens take the spoils against the Taverners XI
The Lord’s Taverners Celebrity Cricket XI were in action on Sunday against Saracens and the match-up against rugby union’s double-winners proved to be too much with the Men In Black running out 80-run winners – largely thanks to 93 from captain Brad Barritt.
Barritt’s knock included four sixes and 10 fours and was able to lead his side to victory – just as he had done in this year’s European Champions Cup and Gallagher Premiership.
Batting first, the Saracens line-up which also included current first team stars Alex Lozowski, Max Malins and Ben Earl along with club owner Nigel Wray and Director of Rugby Mark McCall, reached 277 off their 30 overs with George Chuter, Andy Caddick, Fraser Caddick and Owais Shah in the wickets.
In reply the Taverners, who also had TV presenter Johnnie Irwin in their team, could only reach 197 which included 47 from Caddick along with another knock of 47 from Mark Costin.
